Sardines Nutrition

The reason why we like our food to be as simple as possible is this: What we "give a damn" about whenever we cook is our health and the health of our love ones. It's in our tradition to use only naturally produced ingredients for our and our family's gustatory satisfaction. And in this day and age when everybody's going crazy over Big mac burgers and fries, we continuously try to ignore the temptation and choose to stay healthy.

Speaking of healthy, we like sardines so much because they're nothing else but healthy. Pilchards (the fish kind manufactured as canned sardines) are small, oily fish that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Now, what do these omega-3 fatty acids do? To put it frankly, they're good for the heart. Omega-3 fatty acids seem to have the ability to regulate and lower cholesterol levels in the blood, as well as improving the ratio of good and bad cholesterol. So, how does eating sardines can help our hearts? FYI, it's this ratio between good and bad cholesterol that is thought to play a key role in heart attack risk.

Aside from containing Omega-3 fatty acids, sardines also carry an attractive nutritional value table. One, as in one small piece of sardine, would contain about 25 calories, 1 gram of fat, 3 grams of protein and zero carbohydrates. It would also contain 17 milligrams of cholesterol and 61 milligrams of sodium.
